Rowing for Prostate

Rowing Guys  Rowing Boat  Rowing Hands

Four ‘mad and courageous’ men from The North Shore, who are ‘Rowing for Prostate’ across the Indian Ocean!!

As I know Tom & Billy it has made things even more special as I have followed their progress across the water. Some of you may have heard the interviews they have given on several radio stations…..

When not making their home in their 4 man boat, Tom, Billy & Matt live in Takapuna, and Pete in Greenhithe. With the estimated timing of the race being between 60 – 70 days they are now (at day 55) getting close to the finish line – relatively speaking!

Having travelled 2199kms at last report, they have ‘only’ another 952kms to the finish line off Mauritius.

10 boats started from the Western Coast of Australia 55 days ago and the fleet is now down to 5. The guys are lying in 4th position at the present time.

I urge you to follow the link to their website http://www.rowingforprostate.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=39&Itemid=72  and to read Billy’s amazing blogs………….. I can feel a book coming on!

Billy’s descriptive writing is a joy to read – He has the most wonderful ability to conjure up a clear impression of what life is like on a boat where 4 grown men vie for a small amount of space….The picture he conjures up as he describes treating the sores that have developed on their bottoms is not a pretty one!! Sorry guys – my heart goes out to you!!

For an overall view of the race (with the progress of the other remaining boats), go to http://www.indianoceanrowingrace09.com/

I urge you all to get behind these awesome (should that be oarsome) guys in their last 1000kms and support their efforts to raise some much needed funds and awareness for man’s number one killer, Prostate Cancer. http://www.rowingforprostate.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=61&Itemid=73

Let’s help give them the final push they need to make land in a couple of weeks!!!
