Swine Flu

Another ‘major health issue’ has arisen – this time in the form of ‘Swine Flu’ (the A-H1N1 variation of Influenza A virus).

Please relax and don’t buy into any panicking that often surrounds a new virus. Yes…tests have shown that influenza A is here on the North Shore of Auckland and it is up to each of us to make sure we are supporting our immune system as well as we can – as with any other virus or infection.

It’s time for us to ‘Live above the Line’ and take responsibility for our own health. We need to make sure that each of our systems (electrical, emotional, chemical and physical) are balanced individually so that our body can do its own healing.

Let’s take one system at a time….

Electrical

We are electrical beings and any physical symptoms are actually the 3rd stage of dis-ease in the body. So……

  • If you’ve been shown the Balancing Techniques and have forgotten to ‘replace the fuse’ in your electrical system daily, please hunt out your notes (or email me for a replacement!) and start doing them again!

Remember by stimulating the beginning and ends of the acupuncture meridians you are strengthening your electrical system.

  • Make sure you have a Personal Resonator (more info...) attached to something on you 24 hours a day (a watch? a bangle? in your pocket?)

This ensures you are keeping your body as protected as possible from the external electrical stressors we are exposed to daily.

Emotional

“Stressed….? Who me….? Oh right…so what can I do to relax with all the things going on around me?”

  • Take some time out to watch something uplifting or amusing – either on the TV, a DVD, or have a look at the links to some wonderful sites on the internet. Click here for some wonderful sites to start with.

This allows your brain to have a rest from the daily pressures of life and you’ll start to ‘feel’ rather than just ‘think’. By making the 40cm shift from your brain to your heart you will attract the positive things you want much more quickly.

  • Make sure you’re getting effective sleep. We really do need to give our bodies a rest in order to recuperate from the rushing about during the day.
  • Ask for help!!! I learnt this lesson last year and it was one of the best lessons ever!

Chemical

I could recommend a variety of supplements that will help our immune system (e.g. Echinacea, Goldenseal, Olive Leaf, Vitamin C) – but which one would be right for you? It has been shown many times that what is right for one person frequently has little positive effect on another. If you do want a quick check – please call me.

The one supplement we all probably need to consider is a good Vitamin B complex.  We need the B Vitamins for many reasons (including stress) and we need to take them every day. If you are going to take any of the Vitamin Bs it’s important to take them in a combined form rather than in isolation.

  • Eat as well as you can. Eat fresh, locally grown, produce rather than pre-packaged foods and remember that fast foods actually deplete your vitamin and mineral reserves.
  • Sugar makes it hard for your immune system to fight off viruses and so restrict your intake of refined sugars.
  • If you have already been tested and have an immune boosting supplement in the cupboard – please hunt them out, make sure it’s still within the ‘use by’ date, and start taking them again.

Physical

  • Stand (and sit) up straight! I know this may seem weird – but our energy flows so much better when we improve our posture. It’s amazing how much more energy we gain when we stand correctly.
  • Make sure you’re getting out in the fresh air and getting some exercise.

And – if you are at all concerned –
PLEASE seek advice from your medical professional immediately.
